Frequently Asked Questions

What services and level of service do you provide?
I am a full-service caterer, which means I not only provide food but also serving staff, dishes, cutlery, glassware, tables, chairs, and decorative accents. The level of service I provide depends on each client's needs. I can prepare food and drop it off at your house on ready-to-serve platters, or I can provide all the staff and food-service elements needed for a glamorous wedding or banquet.

I also offer personal chef services to families and individuals.

What type of events do you usually cater?
I cater parties, weddings, commitment and other ceremonies, photo shoots, and banquets ranging in size from two to several hundred people.

Do you provide alcohol?
We can procure what you need at retail cost, or recommend a merchant who will assist you in selecting your beverages. We will gladly advise you on the quantities needed, and provide TABC certified bartenders to serve your selections without additional "corkage fees."

What type of food do you prepare?
I simply love to cook for people who love good food. The dishes I prepare are rustic, full-flavored, and elegant bistro fare. I am fond of exploring authentic regional cuisines of America, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, India, and Thailand, but am just as comfortable preparing the classic cuisines of France, Germany, and Italy. I work with each of my clients to design menus that match their own tastes and personalities.

What are my payment options?
At this time I only accept cash or checks. I generally request an initial payment of $300 to reserve a date, with 50% of the balance due the week before your party. I request the remaining payment once the event is over.

Do you have preprinted menus or a list of food options?
With over twenty-five years of experience, I have a repertoire that encompasses thousands of recipes. I am continually discovering new tastes, or rediscovering old ones. Rather than relying on preprinted menus or food choices, I prefer to meet with my clients to discuss their ideas and expectations so that I can create the right menu for each event.

How do you personalize the weddings and events you cater?
During the initial consultation, I discuss with my clients what their goals are for their parties, bringing my considerable experience to the table to help formulate menus that meet their needs. I particularly like to encourage the brides and grooms I work with to incorporate dishes that reflect their cultural heritage. Family members are usually delighted to rediscover the flavors of their childhood, and the newlyweds are able to carry on traditions or create new ones with menus that incorporate such foods. For instance, we have included Persian, South African, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Scottish, and even Scandinavian elements that married beautifully with "Nuevo Texas" cuisine. Some clients have requested that we use some of their family recipes when designing a menu. We love that.

Do you provide wedding cakes?
We do prepare lovely desserts, but refer our wedding clients to bakers who specialize in wedding cakes.

Can you recommend a venue for our reception?
Yes, I am familiar with most local venues, as well as some unusual ones off the beaten path.
